As we all get caught up in the hype and fanfare of the 2010 World Cup which is now so close you can taste it, TheBounce would just like to take a moment to share the sympathies of our nation with Sweden who will not be joining us in 2010. Yes sadly they failed to qualify so none of them shall be making the journey over to our promised land.
Inge, Helena and Kirsten here will not get to enjoy pap and wors.
Carolina will not get to jump up and down in our fantastic stadiums
She will not be able to watch her favourite sport under the African sun.
None of these girls will be able to get their mouths around a vuvuzela
This girl will not get to raise her hands in the air and get behind her team.
These two will not get exposed to our mother tongues and 11 diverse official languages.
And these girls will not get to make that choice between Caprice or La Med on a fine winters sunday.
This all really does bring a little tear to my eye, so when you are enjoying this month of football fantasticness, spare a thought for these poor girls. Back home in Sweden watching the action on TV, all piled into noisy bars or at home all squashed onto one couch. Oh what a shame.
Our thoughts are with you girls.
