I should ask Tim if I'll look like him in 20 years. He does know everything after all...

Oh, and you're exactly right, the trouble with RWC 2011 is that you just can't process it. We've been massively outplayed by those Antipodeans so many times, and that sucks, but you can explain those losses. On this occasion, for a change, we were the better team by miles and miles and miles. Not even Bryce Lawrence should have been able to overcome such superiority. I watched the game again in slow-motion afterwards, and still just ended up shaking my head in confusion. I always will.

My Masters observation: I have to say that there was almost a certain satisfaction in the Oosthuizen defeat. It was different. By which I mean that he lost fair-and-square with no external what-ifs like referees, rain calculations (x2...let's not forget the stuff-up when we hosted CWC in 2003), team selections, simple choking or the 'favourite' tag.

It was almost (I stress the 'almost'!) comforting to finally sustain a big loss that was so...pure. Watson took one stroke less than Louis, but there's nothing else to keep us lying awake at night. Louis didn't miss a 2-footer or anything like that - in fact you could hardly have asked him to drain any more putts than he did. He was still awesome. Not even a hint of a choke - and if we're going to lose, that's quite a refreshing way to do it!

Wow Steve, can't believe I forgot about that.

That was rather devastating. It was a kak English side too. Sadly the Boks were running on empty that day

Losing to England in 1998 to end the Boks unbeaten run under Nick Mallett was devastating...

Mate '99 Cricket semi tops it all by a country mile - but the Rugby semi in '99 is right there, also a couple of Tri-Nations games in NZ lost at the death. Naturally last year's Bryce Lawrence induced anal rape!

Most of the cricket World Cups since '99 don't even hurt anymore - just par for the course, but '92 will live long in my memory just for the sheer nauseating effect it still has!

Let's also not forget Bafana only just missing out on a FIFA2010 QF spot!

Kevin Curren losing 2 Wimbledon Finals & Elana Meyer missing out on Olympic Gold also deserve a mention.

I know you are not a football fan but that Bafana farce from AFCON 2012 qualifying needs to be in this list.

There are numerous moments where the Protea's were involved and one was the 96 QF WC loss to Windies.
I was in grade 8 and it was really depressing.

another heartbreaking moment was Bafana Bafana losing to Spain in 2002 world cup with the howler from Andre Arendse moments after the Chief scored to level scores.
