On Monday I wrote a piece about how we should all appreciate the Bok redevelopment process before we get too animated with our criticism. These sentiments of course worked both ways where I insisted that coach Heyneke Meyer should do the same. His answer, well here it is below in the form of the Bok team to play New Zealand on Saturday.
15: Zane Kirchner 14: Bryan Habana 13: Jean de Villiers 12: Frans Steyn 11: Francois Hougaard 10: Morne Steyn 9: Ruan Pienaar 8: Duane Vermuelen 7: Willem Alberts 6: Francois Louw 5: Juandre Kruger 4: Flip van der Merwe 3: Jannie du Plessis 2: Adriaan Strauss 1: Beast Mtawarira
16: Tiaan Liebenberg 17: Dean Greyling 18: Andries Bekker 19: Marcel Coetzee 20: Johan Goosen 21: Pat Lambie 22: Juan de Jongh
I’m not going to rehash the points I raised in Monday’s piece , but suffice to say that with Meyer persisting with the selections of Morne Steyn and Zane Kirschner, he is opening the door for people to have a full go now. And this time I totally agree with them. Also, I don’t think dropping our best tackler to the bench is such a wise call, but perhaps Coetzee isn’t 100%
Looking on the positive side (as we always try to do), we have a strong bench. But Heyneke hasn’t really given us much indication that he sees the bench as part of his ‘game plan’.
