The big talking point of the beginning of this year’s SupeRugby tournament was that the Bulls’ second strip would be pink. The jokes and photo shopped images rolled out thick and fast, no doubt to the joy of kit sponsor Puma who had created a huge talking point amongst SA rugby fans. But we all had to wait until week 6 to actually see them in it. And oh boy was it so much pinker than any of us could have imagined…

You may have noticed I plugged joining our pool quite hard recently, and that is because I knew it would be the pool for all to join and here is why. At last count the pool had 473 members which makes it one of the largest private ones going made up of the who’s who of online rugby predictors. So to win this would be to win something special, but not only do we have a title at stake, we also have some kickass prizes to make it even more worthwhile!
It is with great pride and a fair amount of excitement that I tell you that each week during this year’s pool stages of the SupeRugby tournament we shall be delivering a case of Castle Lager to the most impressive performer in our pool*! Yes you read right. 21 weeks of pool games, 21 cases of lovely Castle Lager to members of TheBounce SuperBru pool. This is enough for me to even concentrate a little more than usual!
Last year was a good year for the blog. We won Best Sports Blog at the 2011 SA Blog Awards and this made me very happy. But not for a second did I think I managed to achieve this by just writing features and posting the odd YouTube video of a footballer taking one to the nuts. Oh no, I think it is fair to say that the monthly BounceGirl feature had a fair amount to do with attracting an audience, so it was with great pleasure that I got to take our BounceGirl of 2011 Caitlin Fox out for a spot of shopping.
Well I didn’t actually take her shopping, jeez, I’m not Richard Gere in Pretty Woman, our favourite sports brand PUMA did, as they generously sponsored the super cool prize for the winner of the BounceGirl 2011 Poll. As Caitlin came out tops in the hotly contested poll, she got to pick and choose some sweet Puma gear to the value of R2000 at their store in Fourways Johannesburg.
Voting for the BounceGirl of 2011 has flown along rather nicely all month with a pleasing amount of votes recorded so far. The system is free and fair, with a dedicated poll to the right of the home page or at the bottom of this post (or bottom left for Internet Explorer), upon which you my dear reader get one vote to choose your favourite girl.
If you are struggling to make your choice and need a bit of extra motivation, all you need to do is cast your eyes to the tabs on the left hand side, click the BounceGirls option, and from there you can read each girl’s interviews, see more of their pictures and build a solid favourite based on who suits your eye the best.
PUMA is the new official playing kit partner of the South African Football Association (SAFA), and will be beyond the next two FIFA World Cups.
The striking new PUMA South Africa Kit – which will be worn for the first time by the National A team during their next fixture scheduled for August 10 – features the very latest innovations of PUMA technology, such as performance enhancing fabric and mesh inserts on the side for improved ventilation.
